What is the NACS connector and does my EV have it?

NACS (North American Charging Standard), officially designated SAE J3400, is the charging connector originally developed by Tesla and now adopted as the industry standard across North America. Between 2023 and 2024, virtually all major automakers announced plans to adopt NACS, with most 2025 and newer EVs now coming equipped with it.

If your EV was manufactured before the 2025 model year, it likely uses the CCS1 (Combined Charging System) connector. Adapters are widely available that allow CCS1 vehicles to use NACS-equipped charging stations, including Tesla Superchargers.
