How do I compare EV Ranges

All new vehicles sold in the U.S. must be EPA-rated for range and efficiency — these are the most reliable figures for comparison because they use the same standardized testing methodology across all brands.

EPA figures tend to be slightly conservative — many drivers achieve range close to or above the EPA estimate in moderate weather conditions. Manufacturer-claimed range figures (used by some automakers) tend to be higher than EPA ratings and should be viewed skeptically.

When comparing, look at combined range (the primary EPA figure), plus city and highway range separately if your driving is predominantly one or the other.
