8 th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration & Green Festival Sunday, March 16, 2014 (The correct date is March 16th! Sorry for any confusion) 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Orange County Market Place O.C. Fair & Event Center, Costa Mesa - All things green will share the spotlight during this event which combines a bit o’ the Blarney spirit and eco-friendly living. Four Orange County based Irish dance academies will have over 100 dancers, many of them world champions, kicking up their heels in shows throughout the day starting at 10 a.m. Claddagh School of Irish Dance, McDermott Academy of Irish Dance, Aniar Academy and Butler-Fearon O’Connor School of Irish Dance will perform jigs, reels, and soft and hard shoe numbers while donning their academy’s distinctive colorful costumes. A host of eco activities and educational opportunities will be presented by Earth Resource Foundation, a Costa Mesa nonprofit organization that teaches people how to integrate environmental responsibility where they live, work and play. Featured will be a Haute Trash Fashion Show as well as a youth Eco Contest for high schools and colleges with booths and mini stage presentations, zero waste zones, eco cars, worm composting, recycling and other earth friendly subjects. A strolling Leprechaun doing magic and comedy will share the spotlight with the Bag Monster, a character adorned with a massive amount of plastic bags representing what one individual uses in a year. Also recycled crafting from the OC Therapeutic Arts Association, and other upcycled products and vendors. Elsewhere green beer and green lemonade will be available, along with green mint ice cream. All activities and entertainment are included in the swap meet general admission, which is $2. Admission is waived with a donation of used eyeglasses for the Lion’s Club, which refurbishes and provides glasses for those in need. Children 12 and under are free.
