I have been driving Mitsubishi i-MiEV since March 2012 (over 2 years, now). The car met my expectations and for certain aspects, exceeded it. It provides enough power to get me around. Although it accelerates 0-60 in over 12 seconds, it does it quietly. It has powerfull regen and is very efficient with only 16 kWh battery pack. EPA rated 62 miles, I am getting 80 miles routinely, and over 90 miles when on hypermiling stretch.
The rear seats have lots of head room and shoulder room. I thought it will be just commuter for myself but as it turns out, I am hauling my 4-year old twins in it. They are having fun. The cargo is not bad for subcompact and unusually large when rear seats are folded. Yet, the short length allows for easy parking in small spots.
The relatively simple design and low sticker price lends itself for customization. I have installed combustion heater that saves electrons for the propulsion in the Winter. The heating efficiency gives me 320 MPG of diesel. The colder, the more I smile. I can even share some of the heat with the battery.
The only downside is that subcompacts in the USA are percieved with disrespect. In addition, dealers are not really supportive in selling it. No wonder, the maintenance is minimal.
