Once you've answered these, then we'll have a pretty good shot at figuring out the best way to go. I couldn't make a reasonable recommendation without that information.

As more cars come off lease the value will probably drop. So you might get lucky on the buy out at the end of a lease (might not).
The next generation comes out the value will probably drop (better range and lower price are forcast).
If you look the base price has already dropped $5000 since the original Volts were leased.
Great cars either way as long as you get a dealer that gives you a fair price (buy or lease) and is competent in repairing the Volt.

So, I would buy.
If it is BEV like LEAF, I would definitely lease.
Also, are you one of those who likes to have the latest and greatest? If so, then lease.
Yearly miles also matter. I drive about 20K miles per year so leasing doesn't work for me.

I got my Volt on a triple-zero lease. My gas savings alone paid for about 60% of the cost of the lease, starting on day 1.
