It happened to me a few months after I took my 2012 Volt in for the voluntary recall for the battery reinforcement plates that get installed on each side of the battery. Apparently when they took the battery out and made the changes for the recall they introduced a few air bubbles. It took all those months for the bubbles to find their way around to the pump for the battery management coolant system so it started reading lower pressures that it wanted and threw that error code.
It wouldn't let me charge the battery and the light on the dash just went from yellow to off every time I tried to plug it in to charge. I still had 30 miles on the battery so it would let me drive it, just not charge it. So I took it in to the dealership the next morning and they were able to refill the coolant and bleed out the air and reset the codes and it has worked solid as a rock ever since.
